Mohammad Kaif responds to Jasprit Bumrah’s social media reaction over his Asia Cup bowling analysis.
Former India batter Mohammad Kaif has responded after Jasprit Bumrah dismissed his analysis of the pacer’s bowling in Asia Cup 2025. Kaif had pointed out that Bumrah bowled shorter spells under Suryakumar Yadav compared to his usual spells under Rohit Sharma, suggesting it was to avoid injury.
Bumrah replied on social media, calling Kaif’s observation “inaccurate before, inaccurate again.” Kaif responded, asking fans to see it as a well-intentioned cricketing observation.
He added, “You are India cricket’s biggest match-winner, and I know what it takes to give it all when on the field wearing India colours.”
India currently rely heavily on Bumrah, with only one other specialist pacer alongside all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube. This has increased his workload, especially in the powerplay, while Hardik bowls more at the death.
India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate defended Bumrah’s new role, saying, “He’s doing a very tough task. You don’t see many bowlers in this format bowling all three overs in the powerplay. It’s quite strenuous, but it’s the right amount of work going into the Test match [against West Indies] and also important for this competition.”
