The wicketkeeper-batter was named in India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE earlier this week.

The scare began after Samson’s wife, Charulatha Remesh, shared a picture of him lying on a hospital bed with medical strips attached to his hand.

Her caption mentioned the afternoon time but did not explain what had happened.

The lack of detail immediately triggered panic among fans, with many speculating that he might have picked up an injury during the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) 2025.

A source close to the cricketer later clarified that Samson had only been down with fever. The update, reported by MyKhel, eased concerns as it confirmed that the stumper was admitted for rest and recovery, not because of any serious injury.

Later that same evening, Samson returned to the field for his team Kochi Blue Tigers against Trivandrum Royals at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

He did not get a chance to bat, but his brother Saly Samson smashed a 30-ball fifty to guide Kochi to an eight-wicket win with more than eight overs left.

With the Asia Cup just weeks away, Samson is expected to travel to the UAE soon to join his teammates. India’s squad, led by Suryakumar Yadav, includes a mix of senior stars and youngsters as the team prepares for the continental challenge.

India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad:

Suryakumar Yadav (c), Shubman Gill (vc), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Sanju Samson (wk), Harshit Rana, Rinku Singh.
