IPL 2024 groundsmen and curators to receive Rs 25 Lakh from BCCI.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a financial reward for the groundsmen and curators who ensured top-notch playing conditions throughout the recently concluded IPL 2024 season.
In a tweet acknowledging their contribution, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah called them the “unsung heroes” of the tournament. He lauded their tireless efforts in preparing excellent pitches despite challenging weather conditions, particularly towards the end of the season.
As a token of appreciation, groundsmen and curators at the 10 main IPL venues will receive a handsome sum of Rs 25 lakh each. Those who worked at the three additional venues that hosted a limited number of matches will be awarded Rs 10 lakh each.
“Thank you for your dedication and hard work!” Shah said in his tweet, extending his gratitude to the ground staff.
This year’s IPL season was a high-scoring affair, with teams surpassing the 200-run mark a staggering 37 times. Records were shattered, with Sunrisers Hyderabad posting the highest total of 287 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
Punjab Kings also made history by chasing down the highest target in IPL history, successfully gunning down a mammoth 262 runs set by eventual champions Kolkata Knight Riders.
