BCCI Demands Mohsin Naqvi Return Asia Cup Trophy and Medals Immediately, Plans Official Complaint

BCCI congratulates India on Asia Cup 2025 win, announces Rs 21 crore reward, and protests ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi taking the trophy.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has congratulated the Indian cricket team for their dominant performance against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025. The team defeated their arch-rivals in all three encounters – the group stage, Super Four, and the final – leaving no doubt about their superiority.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia praised the players and support staff for bringing glory to the country, saying:

“All three matches were one-sided, and we congratulate our players as well as the support staff for bringing a lot of glory to our country. Our armed forces have delivered it in the border area. Now the same thing has been repeated in Dubai. This is an excellent moment, a momentous occasion for Indian cricket.”

In recognition of their efforts, the board announced a cash reward of Rs 21 crore for the team, to be distributed among players and support staff.

Saikia also addressed the controversy surrounding the trophy presentation after India’s final win. The Indian team refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi, a senior official from Pakistan.

“We have decided not to take the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from the ACC chairman, who happens to be one of the main leaders of Pakistan. But that does not mean that the gentleman will take away the trophy along with the medals. It is very unfortunate, and we hope that the trophy and the medals will be returned to India as soon as possible,” Saikia said.

The BCCI plans to raise the matter formally at the upcoming ICC conference in Dubai in November. “In the next conference, we are going to launch a very serious and very strong protest against the act of the ACC chairperson,” he added.
