Babar Azam Signs With Sydney Sixers For Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26

Pakistan star Babar Azam has signed with Sydney Sixers for the upcoming Big Bash League season.

Pakistan’s batting superstar Babar Azam has officially joined the Sydney Sixers for the 15th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL), marking one of the biggest overseas signings in the tournament’s history.

The former Pakistan captain, known for his calm presence and stylish stroke play, brings immense experience to the Sixers squad. With over 14,000 runs in international cricket and 11,330 runs in T20s at an average of 43.07, Babar is among the most consistent performers in the format. No other player in T20 history has scored as many runs with a higher average.

Currently ranked 12th in ICC’s T20I batting rankings, Babar is just nine runs away from becoming the leading run-scorer in men’s T20 Internationals, a record currently held by India’s Rohit Sharma.

Sixers Welcome a Superstar

The Sixers’ General Manager Rachael Haynes expressed her excitement about the signing.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Babar to the Sixers this summer,” she said.

“Babar’s resume speaks for itself. The skill, professionalism, and experience he brings is of huge value to our squad. He’s not only a big addition to our club but also to the league.”

She also added that the Sixers aim to become a global destination club, and signing Babar fits perfectly with that vision.

“We can’t wait to see him in Sixers colours later this year,” she said.

Babar has previously played in leagues like the Pakistan Super League, the Caribbean Premier League, and county cricket in England. His upcoming BBL stint will further strengthen his profile in franchise cricket.
