West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph achieved a huge milestone, on Friday, December 9 as he became the leading wicket-taker in international cricket in 2022.
The Caribbean speedster achieved the feat during the ongoing second Test between West Indies and Australia at the Adelaide Oval.
The 26-year-old claimed the wicket of Australian batter Cameron Green on Day 2 of the ongoing Test to become the highest wicket-taker in 2022.
Before this Test, Joseph had 65 wickets to his name in 33 matches. At the end of play on Day 1, the pacer equalled Lamichhane’s tally of 66 wickets, which he picked in 32 matches in 2022.
New Zealand’s Tim Southee stands third in this tally with 62 wickets, while Oman’s Bilal Khan and Trent Boult are placed fourth and fifth in this list with 58 and 55 wickets, respectively.
The Antigua pacer has scalped 27 wickets in 17 ODIs he played so far in 2022 at an economy rate of 4.61. While in T20Is, he has picked 16 wickets in 10 matches so far.
The tall pacer didn’t have a great time in the first Test at Perth Stadium as he remained wicketless in the match. West Indies lost the match by 164 runs to go 0-1 down in the series.
