Rohit, who had looked solid throughout the tour, was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series. His knock came off 125 balls with 13 fours and 3 sixes, guiding India to a comfortable win while chasing 237. Alongside Virat Kohli, he shared an unbroken 168-run partnership for the second wicket, sealing victory with ease.
This innings followed his 73 in the second ODI at Adelaide, underlining his consistency and command in tough Australian conditions. Across three matches, Rohit scored 202 runs at an average of 101, a remarkable comeback after months away from international cricket.
Speaking after the match, Rohit reflected on the challenges of playing in Australia. “I knew that it was never going to be easy in Australia. You have to respect the conditions and situations to score runs. You want to do what you have been doing for years. I didn’t play for a long time,” he said.
Rohit also praised India’s young squad for showing character despite the series defeat.
“We lost the series, but there are many positives for us. We have a young side, but the way the players performed in the challenging situation was impressive,” he added.
He highlighted the importance of leadership and sharing experience in a developing side.
“It is our duty to pass on the knowledge to the young players. When we came to the team, we were helped by seniors. It is not easy to play in Australia, and you need a game plan and get back to basics when you come to this part of the world,” Rohit said.
