Ashes 2023: Nathan Lyon Spotted on Crutches, Set to Miss Remainder of Series
Australia star spinner Nathan Lyon sustained a calf injury during the second day of Lord's test.
In a massive blow for Australia, Nathan Lyon, their star spinner, sustained a calf injury during the ongoing second Test at Lord’s, forcing him to withdraw from the remainder of the match.
Ahead of day three’s resumption, Nathan Lyon was seen on crutches, walking with his fellow Australian teammates. However, the likelihood of him taking any further part in the match seems slim.
Should Nathan Lyon be sidelined for the rest of the series, the young spinner Todd Murphy is likely to be called upon as his replacement.
Murphy previously made his Test debut during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 in India, where picked up 14 wickets and left a lasting impression on the cricketing world.
Meanwhile, Australia finished their innings at 416 runs in just 100.4 overs on the second day, with Steve Smith leading the charge with an impressive 110 runs. At stumps, England was at 257 runs, with four wickets already down and the duo of Harry Brook and Ben Stokes standing tall.
