Another Injury Blow to CSK! Vansh Bedi Out of IPL 2025, CSK Rope in Urvil Patel as Replacement

Chennai Super Kings have signed Urvil Patel as a replacement for injured youngster Vansh Bedi in IPL 2025.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made a fresh change to their squad in the middle of what has been a tough season for them.

The five-time champions have roped in Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel as a replacement for youngster Vansh Bedi, who has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025 due to injury.

Urvil Patel, 26, had gone unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah earlier this year. He had listed himself at a base price of INR 30 Lakh but found no takers at the time. However, his recent form in domestic cricket has been outstanding.

He smashed the second-fastest century in men’s T20 cricket, reaching the milestone in just 28 balls. Now, he gets a chance to wear the Yellow jersey for the remaining matches of the season.

Vansh Bedi’s injury came as a big blow to CSK. The youngster, who was signed for INR 55 Lakh after a solid domestic season where he scored 221 runs in nine games, has been ruled out indefinitely.

He was named in CSK’s 12-man squad for their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) but was replaced at the last moment by Deepak Hooda.

Later, it was revealed that Bedi had suffered a ligament tear in his left ankle during practice, which ended his season prematurely.

As for Urvil Patel, he brings some experience with him. The Gujarat batter has featured in 47 T20 matches so far, scoring 1162 runs. He was also part of the Gujarat Titans squad in the 2023 IPL season.

Now, with CSK already out of the playoffs race, he will be looking to make the most of the few matches left.

Speaking of Chennai Super Kings, their campaign in IPL 2025 has been forgettable. Out of the 11 matches they have played so far, they have managed to win only two.

They were also the first team to be officially knocked out of this year’s tournament. Still, they have three more games to go, where they will aim to finish on a positive note.
