The Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews has registered in the IPL 2024 auction with a base price of INR 2 Crore. The auction is scheduled for December 19 in Dubai.
Angelo Mathews became the talk of the town during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh when he became the first batter to get timed out in international cricket.
It all happened when he couldn’t reach the field within the allotted time after going back to change his broken helmet. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan approached the umpire, pushing for Angelo Mathews to be given out.
Sri Lanka’s World Cup 2023 campaign saw them clinch only two wins out of nine league stage matches, landing them at the second-to-last spot on the points table.
