Aiden Markram joins Durban Super Giants for record R14 million in SA20, over three times his IPL price with Lucknow.
Aiden Markram was the star of the SA20 2026 auction as Durban Super Giants went all out to sign him for a record R14 million (around Rs 7.05 crore).
The 29-year-old, who led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to back-to-back titles, had entered the auction pool for the first time, sparking one of the fiercest bidding wars in the league’s history.
Durban Super Giants and Pretoria Capitals drove the price past R12.6 million before Sunrisers Eastern Cape tried to use their Right to Match card.
But under the rules, the final word rested with Durban, who raised their bid further, leaving Markram’s former team with no choice but to step aside.
Big Money at Home, Modest in IPL
The signing looks even more remarkable when compared with Markram’s IPL value. At the IPL 2025 mega auction, Lucknow Super Giants, Durban’s sister franchise, secured him for just Rs 2 crore.
His SA20 deal now stands at more than three times that amount. here it is worth mentioning that he led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to SA20 title twice and is currently the most successful captain of this tournament.
