After Losing Captaincy, Mohammad Rizwan Hits Back, Refuses to Sign PCB Contract

Mohammad Rizwan’s rift with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has deepened, with the wicketkeeper-batter reportedly refusing to sign his central contract.

As per a Samaa TV report, Rizwan has sought an official clarification from the PCB regarding his exclusion from Pakistan’s T20I squad, which he believes has gone unexplained.

The controversy comes just days before Pakistan’s ODI series against South Africa. Rizwan, who was sacked as ODI captain earlier this month, has been out of the T20I setup since March.

Interestingly, while Babar Azam, who faced a similar omission, has been recalled for the upcoming series, Rizwan continues to remain sidelined.

Reports in Pakistani media suggest Rizwan has also put forward certain “additional demands” before signing the contract, though none of the publications have revealed what those demands are.

Earlier this year, both Rizwan and Babar Azam were demoted from Category A to Category B contracts after the PCB decided not to award any player the top-tier deal.
