Abhishek Sharma Opens International Account with a Six, Joins Elite Club

Abhishek Sharma went on to score a 46-ball 100 against Zimbabwe.

Abhishek Sharma entered the exclusive club of players who hit a six as their first scoring shot in T20 international cricket. He unlocked this milestone during the 2nd T20I against Zimbabwe on July 7.

Facing his first delivery from Brian Bennett, he pulled the ball towards deep backward square leg for a six. This made him only the third player in T20Is to achieve this feat.

Earlier, the star Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav had also hit a six on his debut against England in 2021, and Tilak Varma did the same against West Indies in 2023 during his debut.

Abhishek, having gained recognition with his powerful hitting and fearless play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024, made his international debut in the first T20I against Zimbabwe on July 6.

However, his debut match was a forgettable one as he registered a four-ball duck. India went on to lose that match by a whopping 68 runs. India bounced back stronger in the 2nd T20I with a big 100 run win.
