India chased down the 160-run target in just 14.5 overs. It was their third-fastest successful T20I chase of a target above 150 runs, underlining their strong batting display.

Sanju Samson played a key role with a half-century, helping India stay ahead of the required rate during the chase. His innings gave India the momentum needed to finish the match comfortably.

Nitish Kumar Reddy was named Player of the Match for his impressive bowling performance. His contribution with the ball played an important part in keeping Afghanistan to a manageable total.

The result came just days after India had chased 157 in 13.4 overs in the series opener. With another dominant chase, India have now won the first two games and sealed the series with one match still to play.

The victory also extended India’s unbeaten international record against Afghanistan to 18-0. This includes all completed matches between the two sides, with their 2018 ODI ending in a tie.

Afghanistan’s struggles against India continued in the shortest format. They have now lost 10 consecutive completed T20Is against India, the longest losing streak by any team against India in the format.

The series win is also a positive start for Iyer after India suffered series defeats in Ireland and England. India will now look to complete a clean sweep when the two teams meet again in the third T20I on September 17.
