India Will Not Travel To Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025
The Champions Trophy 2025 is set to take place in Pakistan next year.
The 2025 Champions Trophy is slated to be hosted by Pakistan next year. However, reports suggest that India may once again decline to travel to Pakistan, which might see the tournament being relocated or held in a hybrid format.
According to information from IANS, a source within BCCI has mentioned that the prospects of Team India travelling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 are extremely slim. This statement was given when asked about the possibility of India engaging in any bilateral series with Pakistan in the near future.
“Forget bilateral series, team India may not even travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. There might be a change of venue; a hybrid model is also possible,” the source said.
“The Indian board would need permission from the government for travel; currently, our relations with Pakistan are not that good either,” sources revealed.
“Champions Trophy is an ICC event, so it would be a tough call for India, but nothing happens without the government’s order or green signal. As for bilateral series, I don’t see them happening in the near future; that’s next to impossible.”
The Asia Cup 2023 was co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a hybrid model after India declined to travel to Pakistan.
The 2025 Champions Trophy is set to take place in Pakistan in February-March next year. This marks the first ICC event in Pakistan since the 1996 World Cup.
