England Announce 16-Member Squad for T20I Series Against India
All the matches of India vs England T20 series will be played in Ahmedabad. After the T20 series, England will play a three-match ODI series against Men In Blue.
Senior wicketkeeper-batsmen Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow, on Thursday named in a 16-member England squad for the five T20 International matches against India, scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad from March 12 to March 20.
Jos Buttler will return after missing three games of the ongoing four-match red-ball series. Buttler has returned home after the opening Test against India, which the visiting side won by 227 runs.
Apart from Buttler, Jonny Bairstow has been named in the squad. He has been rested for the first two Tests as part of England’s rotational policy.
England have handed an opportunity to 27-year-old Liam Livingstone, who might feature in the English line-up after more than three years, since his last T20I. The opener from Lancashire was in good form in the recently concluded edition of the Big Bash League (BBL), where he represented Perth Scorchers.
Veteran Moin Ali, Sam Curran, Tom Curran and Dawid Malan have also been included in the 16-member squad for England’s T20 series. Apart from these players, players like Adil Rashid and Jason Roy are also going to be a part of T20 series against India.
Jake Ball and Matt Parkinson have been named reserves. The visitors will depart on February 26 and play all five T20I matches in Ahmedabad. A majority of the England squad have played extensive T20I cricket on Indian pitches in the Indian Premier League.
The England Cricket Board said in an official statement that it will announce squad for the three-match One Day International series in due course. The ODI series will commence after the five-match T20I series.
