Jos Buttler Ruled Out of The Hundred 2022

Buttler sustained an injury during the match against Southern Brave.

In what comes as a major setback for Manchester Originals, their captain and wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the remaining The Hundred 2022 season after sustaining a calf injury.

The 31-year-old suffered an injury while playing for Manchester Originals against Southern Braves last Thursday (August 18).

He didn’t play the most recent match for Manchester against Northern Superchargers at Headingley on Sunday, and on Monday the franchise confirmed that their skipper would not feature in the remaining matches of the Originals.

Laurie Evans, who was appointed the stand-in captain in absence of Buttler against the Superchargers, will fill the shoes of the skipper for the remaining season.

Manchester Originals haven’t provided any further details on the extent of the injury.

In another set of developments, the power-hitting Caribbean all-rounder Andre Russell will also no longer participate in Manchester’s remaining games as he has returned home to participate in the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League.

Both Buttler and Russell were in imperious touch in the ongoing season of The Hundred and their absence will definitely impact the Manchester-based unit.

Currently, with three wins and as many losses from six games, Manchester Originals occupy the third spot in the points rankings. They next take on Birmingham Phoenix on August 28 at Edgbaston.
