CPL 2021: St Kitts & Nevis Patriots Win Maiden Title With Last-Ball Victory Against St Lucia Kings

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Wednesday, won their maiden Caribbean Premier League title by defeating St Lucia Kings by three wickets.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, on Thursday, won the last-ball thriller against St Lucia Kings in the final match of the CPL 2021 to claim their maiden tournament title. 

The Patriots won the match by 3 wickets to lift their maiden CPL trophy. Earlier in the match, the Kings won the toss and opted to bat first. Batting first, they could manage only 159 runs in the scheduled 20 overs. 

No St Lucia batsmen except R Cornwall (43 off 32), Roston Chase (43 off 40) and Keemo Paul (39 off 21) could manage to cross the 15-run mark. 

Coming to the Patriots chase, they got off to a poor start as their opener and explosive batsman Chris Gayle went out for a duck. Soon after him, Lewis followed him for just 6 runs. Later, Joshua Da Silva (37 off 32) and Sherfane Rutherford (25 off 22) played smart innings and maintained a smooth partnership in the middle overs. 

Fabian Allen also made a quick contribution as he smacked 20 runs off just 18 balls. The final touch was given by Dominic Drakes who smashed 48 runs off just 24 balls to help his side cross the finishing line. 

Fawad Ahmed and Naseem Shah took two wickets each for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots while Wahab Riaz took as many wickets for St Lucia Kings.
