Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Aussie batsman Shane Watson has announced his retirement from franchise cricket after CSK won their last league game against Kings XI on Sunday.

Former Australian opener Shane Watson, who retired from international cricket in 2016, has now decided to quit all forms of cricket.

For the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League, MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings got eliminated from the tournament without playing the playoffs.

The franchise became the first team to face elimination of the tournament. The team had a poor start in the 13th edition of Indian Premier League. However, after winning the last three matches, the Chennai team managed to take a respectable farewell by scoring 12 points in the points table.

Meanwhile, after the last league game of CSK on Sunday, a bit of bad news is coming for CSK fans. The former Australian player Shane Watson has announced his retirement from ‘all forms of cricket.’

As per reports of Times Of India, Chennai Super Kings’ veteran batsman spoke about his retirement in the dressing room after the last league match.

“Watson was very emotional when he told the CSK dressing room after the last game that he would retire. He said that it was a great privilege for him to play for the franchise,” a source told TOI.

This season, Watson’s performance faded and in 11 matches he scored at an average of 29.90. Batting in 11 innings, he had 299 runs in his account with an unbeaten innings of 83 runs. During this, Watson hit 33 fours and 13 sixes. He has played for Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore before becoming part of the Chennai Super Kings in 2018.
