I Don’t Think Replacing Dinesh Karthik is The Right Move: Ajit Agarkar
Dinesh Karthik stepped down as Kolkata Knight Riders' skipper last week. Former Indian fast bowler Ajit Agarkar didn't like this decision of Kolkata based franchise. He criticised the KKR's decision of replacing Dinesh Karthik with World-cup winning captain Eoin Morgan.
Dinesh Karthik stepped down as Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper last week and handed over the team to England’s limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan. The Indian wicket-Keeper batsman left the captaincy to focus on his batting and contributing more for the team.
Meanwhile, Former Indian fast bowler Ajit Agarkar didn’t like this decision of Kolkata based franchise. He criticised the KKR’s decision of replacing Dinesh Karthik with World-cup winning captain Eoin Morgan.
Ajit Agarkar feels that replacing Dinesh Karthik after seven games is not the right move as it leads to the ‘disruption of the team’.
“I don’t think replacing Dinesh Karthik after seven games when you’re sitting fourth in the table is the right move in my opinion. It does add to the disruption of the team and you could see the way they performed against Mumbai Indians, even though it was a tough game,” said Ajit Agarkar while speaking on Star Sports’ show ‘Fan week’.
“I don’t think it was the right move. You make plans with a certain captain through the course of the year and in spite of sitting fourth on the table, it was a very strange move for me,” he added.
Despite the inconsistent performance of the KKR batsmen, the team managed to win five games out of the nine they played and are on the fourth spot in the point table. They have won their previous match against SunRisers Hyderabad in a super over on Thursday.
Kolkata Knight Riders with their new skipper Eoin Morgan will face Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday.
