IPL 2027 Auction to Be Held in Goa in December, Franchises Begin Major Restructuring
IPL 2027 auction will be held in Goa in December as Pant returns to DC, Kuldeep joins LSG, and CSK and KKR make changes.
The IPL 2027 mini-auction is set to take place in Goa in mid-December, according to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia. It will be the final mini-auction of the 2023-27 cycle, with franchises already making major changes ahead of the new season.
The auction will return to India after three consecutive editions were held overseas. Dubai hosted the 2024 auction, followed by Jeddah in 2025 and Abu Dhabi in 2026.
Rishabh Pant Returns to Delhi Capitals, Kuldeep Yadav Joins LSG
One of the biggest moves ahead of IPL 2027 is the player swap between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. Rishabh Pant has returned to Delhi for ₹15 crore, while Kuldeep Yadav has moved to Lucknow for ₹13.50 crore.
Pant will rejoin the franchise where he spent nine seasons from 2016 to 2024. Kuldeep, meanwhile, will bring his experience as an India spinner to Lucknow’s bowling attack.
KKR and CSK Face Leadership Changes
Kolkata Knight Riders will need a new captain following Ajinkya Rahane’s retirement on July 30. Rinku Singh, who was the designated vice-captain, is among the in-house options being considered for the leadership role.
Chennai Super Kings have also made a major change to their team management. Former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan has been appointed head coach, replacing Stephen Fleming, who had been associated with the franchise for 18 years.
The changes mean that several teams could enter the new season with different leadership groups and squad combinations. With the auction approaching, franchises will have another chance to address gaps and plan their squads for IPL 2027.
