Bangladesh have announced a 15-player squad for the men’s cricket competition at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, with Litton Das named captain and Towhid Hridoy his deputy.
Bangladesh will enter the competition directly in the quarter-finals, along with India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The other six teams will have to go through the preliminary round to reach the last eight.
The squad has a strong pace attack, with Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Mohammad Saifuddin and Hasan Mahmud included. The team will also have several spin options for the conditions in Japan.
Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Mahedi Hasan and Mosaddek Hossain form the main spin group. Their ability to control the middle overs could be important in the shorter format.
Litton will lead Bangladesh into the tournament after establishing himself as the country’s most successful T20I captain by win percentage. He has led Bangladesh in 31 T20Is, recording a 51.61 percent win rate.
The 2026 Asian Games men’s cricket competition will feature 10 teams fighting for the gold medal. The matches will be played at the Aichi Prefectural Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin City, Japan.
With a direct place in the quarter-finals, Bangladesh will have fewer matches to navigate than the teams entering through the preliminary stage. The focus will be on making the most of that advantage and pushing for a medal.
