Manchester Super Giants Win Maiden The Hundred Men’s Title
Manchester Super Giants beat Trent Rockets at Lord's to win their maiden Men's Hundred title after two final defeats.
Manchester Super Giants are the champions of the 2026 Men’s Hundred after beating Trent Rockets in a thrilling final at Lord’s on Sunday, August 16.
It was a special moment for the Manchester side, who had reached the final twice before but finished runners-up on both occasions. Their third final brought the breakthrough they had been waiting for.
The Super Giants enjoyed a strong league campaign under the new ownership of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group. They played aggressive cricket and recorded several big wins on their way to the playoffs.
They began with back-to-back victories, including a close seven-run win over London Spirit. They then produced dominant performances, beating Birmingham Phoenix by 87 runs and Welsh Fire by nine wickets.
In their final league game, the Super Giants crushed Sunrisers Leeds by 10 wickets. They bowled Leeds out for 127 before Tim Seifert smashed an unbeaten 80 off 40 balls to finish the chase in only 13.2 overs.
Manchester finished second in the league table with 20 points from five wins and three defeats. Their net run rate of +0.791 was the best in the tournament and helped them secure a strong playoff position.
In the Eliminator against Sunrisers Leeds at The Oval on August 14, Manchester once again produced their best cricket under pressure.
After Jos Buttler was dismissed for 33, Paul Walter and Heinrich Klaasen changed the game with a stunning 114-run partnership from just 52 balls. Walter scored 80 off 46 balls, while Klaasen smashed 63 from 26 deliveries.
Their efforts lifted Manchester to 186/4. Josh Tongue then took 4/26 as the Super Giants restricted Leeds to 166/7, winning by 20 runs and reaching their third Hundred final.
Against Trent Rockets at Lord’s, Buttler won the toss and chose to field. Manchester’s bowlers kept the Rockets under control and restricted them to 158/8.
The chase then belonged to Tim Seifert. The New Zealand batter produced a crucial 50 off just 23 balls, giving Manchester the momentum they needed in the biggest game of their season.
The Super Giants completed the chase of 159 and lifted their first-ever Men’s Hundred trophy. After two final defeats, Manchester finally got their moment at Lord’s, making it third time lucky.
