Mohammed Siraj Rested for Ireland and England T20Is, Prasidh Krishna Named Replacement
Mohammed Siraj has been rested for India’s Ireland and England T20I tours, with Prasidh Krishna named as replacement.
India pacer Mohammed Siraj has been withdrawn from the upcoming T20I tours of Ireland and England as part of workload management plans ahead of a packed international calendar.
The decision was taken after discussions between the BCCI medical team and the Indian team management. Siraj recently featured in India’s one-off Test against Afghanistan, and officials have opted to give him time to recover and manage his workload rather than risk fatigue during the long season ahead.
With Siraj unavailable, Prasidh Krishna has been drafted into the squad for both tours. The fast bowler will now have an opportunity to cement his place in India’s T20I plans during the overseas assignments.
India’s white-ball campaign begins with two T20Is against Ireland in Belfast on June 26 and 28. The team will then travel to England for a five-match T20I series starting on July 1.
The tour will be led by Shreyas Iyer, who has been appointed India’s T20I captain. The series will be an important test for the squad as India continue building towards future ICC events.
There is also plenty of excitement around teenage batting talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who earned his maiden India call-up. The youngster could make his international debut during the tour if selected in the playing XI.
India’s management appears focused on balancing player fitness with performance demands, especially with a busy white-ball schedule on the horizon. Resting Siraj now is seen as a proactive move rather than a response to any reported injury concern.
