Two WPL matches on January 14 and 15 in Navi Mumbai will be played without spectators due to police deployment for local elections.

Two upcoming WPL 2026 matches in Navi Mumbai will be played behind closed doors, with no spectators allowed inside the stadium. The decision has been taken due to security arrangements linked to local municipal elections.

The matches are scheduled for January 14 and January 15, 2026, at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Nerul. Fans will not be allowed to attend either game, even though both are part of the regular WPL schedule.

The move comes after local police informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India that they would not be able to provide adequate security. Most police personnel have been diverted for election duty in Navi Mumbai.

The Navi Mumbai municipal corporation elections are set to take place on January 15. With polling and related arrangements taking priority, authorities felt it would be difficult to manage a high-profile sporting event at the same time.

The first affected match on January 14 will see Delhi Capitals Women take on UP Warriorz. The following day, January 15, Mumbai Indians Women will face UP Warriorz at the same venue.

All these matches are scheduled at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium, which has been hosting several WPL games this season. The venue usually attracts large crowds, especially when Mumbai Indians are in action.

Ticket availability also reflects the situation. The official WPL online ticketing platform has not listed tickets for January 14 and 15. There is also uncertainty around the January 16 match between Gujarat Giants Women and Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, with some reports suggesting it could also be affected.

However, normal arrangements are expected to resume soon. Tickets for the double-header scheduled on January 17 are already on sale, indicating that spectators will be allowed back once the election process is completed.
