IND vs NZ 2026: BCCI Announced India’s ODI Squad for NZ Tour, No Shami, Conditional Nod for Shreyas Iyer

The BCCI has announced India’s 15-member squad for the three-match home ODI series against New Zealand, starting January 11 in Vadodara. This will be India’s first ODI assignment of 2026.

Shubman Gill will captain the side, with senior batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returning to the ODI setup. KL Rahul is part of the squad and will also share wicketkeeping duties with Rishabh Pant.

Shreyas Iyer makes his return and has been named vice-captain, but his place is subject to final fitness clearance. Iyer is currently completing rehab and will need approval from the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru before the series opener.

India have rested Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah as part of workload management. With a busy T20 calendar and the T20 World Cup coming up, the team management has opted to manage senior all-format players carefully.

The pace attack will be led by Mohammed Siraj, with support from Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna. It gives India a mix of experience and youth in the fast bowling department.

In spin and all-round options, the selectors have picked Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar. Nitish Kumar Reddy adds depth as a pace-bowling all-rounder.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been included as an extra top-order option, giving the team flexibility at the top of the batting order. Dhruv Jurel misses out this time as India stick with Rahul and Pant as wicketkeepers.

The three ODIs will be played on January 11 in Vadodara, January 14 in Rajkot and January 18 in Indore. All matches will start at 1:30 PM IST.
