MI Squad After IPL 2026 Auction: Complete List of Players Bought by Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians back their core and make low-cost buys at IPL 2026 auction as they chase a record sixth IPL title.

Mumbai Indians (MI) finished third in IPL 2025 but fell short after losing Qualifier 2 to Punjab Kings. The five-time champions now head into IPL 2026 with the same goal, to end a long title wait and lift a record sixth trophy.

MI entered the IPL 2026 auction with the smallest purse of ₹2.75 crore. Despite the tight budget, the franchise looked calm and clear, trusting its proven core that has delivered success in the past.

They retained senior stars like Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. Young Indian batters Tilak Varma and Atharva Ankolekar were also kept, along with overseas names Trent Boult and Ryan Rickelton.

Before the auction, MI made smart trades to cover key gaps. They brought in Shardul Thakur for depth in all-round options, Sherfane Rutherford for middle-order power and Mayank Markande to strengthen spin. Arjun Tendulkar was traded out.

At the auction table, MI stayed quiet but focused. Their biggest buy was Quinton de Kock, picked up for just ₹1 crore. The experienced wicketkeeper-batter adds quality at the top and offers cover behind the stumps.

MI also signed three uncapped Indian players. Danish Malewar, Mohammed Salahuddin Izhar and Mayank Rawat were bought for ₹30 lakh each. These picks fit MI’s long-term plan of backing young domestic talent.

The final squad looks balanced across all departments. The batting unit includes Rohit, Suryakumar, Tilak, Will Jacks, de Kock and Rutherford, giving options at the top and middle.

All-round depth comes from Hardik Pandya, Shardul Thakur, Mitchell Santner and Corbin Bosch. This allows flexibility in team combinations across venues.

The bowling attack remains MI’s biggest strength. Bumrah leads the pace unit alongside Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar, while spin options include Santner, Markande and Atharva Ankolekar.

MI finish the auction with a full 25-player squad, made up of 17 Indian and 8 overseas players. They also have ₹55 lakh left in the purse, a rare bonus given their limited budget.

After not winning the IPL since 2020, Mumbai Indians are betting on experience, stability and smart squad management. With a settled core and a few clever additions, they will once again start the season as serious title contenders.
