Suryakumar Yadav Breaks Past Rohit Sharma to Set New Mumbai T20 Batting Record
Suryakumar Yadav becomes Mumbai’s top T20 scorer with 1,717 runs as he heads toward leading India at the home T20 World Cup.
Suryakumar Yadav added another landmark to his growing list of achievements. He is now Mumbai’s highest run scorer in domestic T20s, moving past Aditya Tare and even Rohit Sharma on the all time charts.
He crossed the mark during Mumbai’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game against Kerala, where he made a steady 32 from 25 balls. That innings pushed his tally to 1,717 runs from 71 matches.
Suryakumar climbed to the top with a strike rate above 145. He has nine fifties for Mumbai and a best score of 94. Tare is just behind him with 1,713 runs. Shreyas Iyer is also close with 1,706 runs in only 54 games.
His rise in domestic cricket matches his impact for India. He has 2,754 T20I runs from 95 games and scores them at a strike rate over 164. He has already smashed four hundreds and 21 fifties in the format.
In the IPL, he continues to be one of Mumbai Indians most reliable batters with 4,311 runs from 166 matches. His ability to play shots in every direction has made him a match winner for the franchise.
Suryakumar is also leading India in T20s. He guided the team to the Asia Cup title and is set to captain again at next year’s home T20 World Cup. India and Pakistan are in Group A and their league match is scheduled for 7 pm in Colombo. With four groups and a Super Eight stage, the tournament could see more than one India Pakistan clash if both sides move forward.
This milestone shows how far Suryakumar has come in T20 cricket. He is now the key batter for Mumbai, India, and Mumbai Indians, and his form will be vital as the World Cup countdown begins.
