Ibrahim Zadran fined 15% of match fee by ICC for hitting equipment after scoring 95 in Afghanistan’s 3-0 ODI sweep vs Bangladesh
Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran has been fined 15% of his match fee by the ICC for breaching the Level 1 Code of Conduct during the third ODI against Bangladesh.
Zadran played a brilliant innings of 95 runs but fell just short of a well-deserved century after being run out. Frustrated, he struck equipment with his bat while walking back to the pavilion, an action that led to the penalty.

The ICC said the incident fell under Article 2.2, which prohibits abuse of cricket or ground equipment during an international match. Zadran admitted to the offense and accepted the sanction, avoiding the need for a formal hearing.
Despite the moment of frustration, Zadran was one of the stars of the series. His consistent batting at the top helped Afghanistan dominate Bangladesh and complete a historic 3-0 clean sweep.
Afghanistan’s emphatic 200-run win in the third ODI capped off a near-perfect series, further establishing them as one of the most improved sides in world cricket.
While the fine was minor, it served as a reminder of the ICC’s zero-tolerance approach to on-field misconduct.
