India began the match on a strong note, posting a massive 518 for 5 declared. Yashasvi Jaiswal set the tone with a brilliant 175, his seventh Test century, while Gill led from the front with an unbeaten 129. Sai Sudharsan chipped in with a composed 87 to keep the scoreboard moving.
West Indies struggled in their first innings, managing just 248 runs as Kuldeep Yadav ran through their batting lineup with a five-wicket haul. India enforced the follow-on, putting the visitors under pressure once again.
However, West Indies fought back in their second innings. John Campbell and Shai Hope both scored centuries, 115 and 103 respectively, showing great determination. A spirited last-wicket stand between Justin Greaves, who stayed unbeaten on 50, and Jayden Seales (32) pushed them to 390, setting India a target of 121.
India’s chase got off to a shaky start with Jaiswal falling early, but KL Rahul steadied things with a fluent half-century. Alongside Sai Sudharsan, he ensured there were no further hiccups as India reached 125 for 3 in 35.2 overs on the final morning.
This series win gave India their seventh victory in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle, keeping them third on the points table.
