Rishabh Pant’s Comeback Date Announced After Injury
Rishabh Pant to play for Delhi in Ranji Trophy after foot injury before returning for India vs South Africa Tests.
Rishabh Pant is all set to make his comeback to competitive cricket after a long injury layoff. The India wicketkeeper-batter suffered a foot injury in the fourth Test against England and missed the Asia Cup and the Test series against West Indies.
According to reports, Pant is expected to play for Delhi in the upcoming Ranji Trophy before returning to the national team for the home Test series against South Africa. His right foot will be assessed over the coming week, with clearance likely around October 10.
Pant has indicated that he aims to be available for Delhi’s Ranji Trophy match against Himachal Pradesh, scheduled to start on October 25.
His participation will depend on fitness and approval from the BCCI medical team, a top Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) official told the Times of India.
While Pant has not confirmed the exact date he will join the Delhi camp, he is expected to lead the team once cleared.
“Playing the first-round Ranji match from October 15 would be very tight for him. If he is available, he is most likely to lead the team,” the official added.
If all goes well in the Ranji Trophy and with medical clearance, Pant could make his international return during India’s two-match Test series against South Africa starting November 14.
