It’s been nearly a week since India defeated Pakistan in the men’s Asia Cup final, but the controversy from that tournament refuses to die down. During Saturday’s presser, Indian bowling coach Avishkar Salvi was addressing the media when a journalist from Pakistan tried to bring up the Asia Cup drama, asking whether the tension between the two nations could affect the women’s game.

Before Salvi could respond, the Indian media manager quickly stepped in and stopped the question, saying, “Hi, just a reminder, we said we wouldn’t be taking that first question, so let’s move on to the next one.”

The reporter later revealed he had planned to ask the question to captain Harmanpreet Kaur but decided to proceed when Salvi attended the session instead.

The question referred to the trophy-presentation controversy during the Asia Cup final in Dubai, where India refused to accept the trophy from ACC chief and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

The incident, followed by Naqvi walking off with the trophy, created a storm on social media and deepened the rift between both sides.
