Videos circulating on social media showed groups of Afghan students, reportedly studying in Pakistan, celebrating India’s win with patriotic chants. The clips quickly went viral, with many Indian fans hailing the gesture as a symbol of solidarity.
On the field, India’s campaign was marked not just by performances but also by political undertones. Abhishek Sharma, who scored 314 runs in seven innings, was named Player of the Tournament. Tilak Varma sealed the chase in the final and was seen exchanging heated words with Pakistan players. Jasprit Bumrah added to the drama when he mocked Haris Rauf’s airplane celebration after dismissing him.
Throughout the tournament, India’s players refused to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts. Sources said this was a show of solidarity with the Indian armed forces and victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. The atmosphere only grew more charged after the final.
The post-match presentation turned chaotic when India reportedly refused to accept the trophy from ACC President and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. According to The New Indian Express, the team preferred receiving it from Emirates Cricket Board Vice Chairman Khalid Al Zarooni, but Naqvi declined. With no compromise reached, the trophy was removed, and India celebrated without it.
