Suryakumar Yadav says India’s real Asia Cup 2025 trophy is the team, despite not receiving it from Mohsin Naqvi.
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav spoke out after India’s five-wicket win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final, addressing the controversy over the trophy presentation.
“This is something that I’ve never seen or heard since I started playing cricket, that the winning team doesn’t get the trophy it deserves. But for me, the real trophy are the players, support staff, and everyone who contributed,” Yadav said.
He added, “What matters is that everywhere you see on screens it says – Indian Team Asia Cup Champions.”
India had refused to take the trophy from ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi after their historic victory. The decision was seen as a response to earlier political tensions between the two countries and previous incidents in the tournament.
