Abhishek Sharma Equals Virat Kohli’s Asia Cup Record
Abhishek Sharma equals Virat Kohli’s Asia Cup record with back-to-back fifties, scoring 75 against Bangladesh.
Abhishek Sharma has joined an elite list by equalling Virat Kohli’s record in the Asia Cup. The southpaw scored his second consecutive fifty in the Super Four match against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, becoming only the second Indian batter to achieve this feat in the tournament’s history.
Sharma continued his red-hot form from India’s previous game against Pakistan, smashing 75 off 37 balls at a strike rate of 202.70. His innings included six fours and five sixes.
Unfortunately, he was run out following a mix-up with captain Suryakumar Yadav after a sharp piece of fielding by Rishad Hossain and a quick throw from Mustafizur Rahman.
In the game against Pakistan, Sharma had scored 74 off 39 balls, including six fours and five sixes, showing remarkable consistency in the Asia Cup 2025.
India remain unbeaten in the tournament after four matches and are strong favourites to reach the final. Bangladesh, meanwhile, have won three of their four matches so far and will need a strong performance to challenge the defending champions.
