Pakistan Boycott Press Conference Ahead of Super 4 Match Against India of Asia Cup 2025
Pakistan skip pre-match press conference ahead of India clash in Asia Cup 2025, adding fuel to ongoing ICC tensions.
On the eve of their Super Four clash against India, Pakistan cancelled their scheduled press conference, leaving many guessing about the reason. The decision comes despite the team addressing the media after their last game against UAE, where Haris Rauf spoke.
Reports suggest the Pakistan Cricket Board and the ICC are still at odds following the controversial handshake saga during the India-Pakistan group match.
Back then, Pakistan also skipped the pre-match press conference against UAE after Andy Pycroft, cleared of any wrongdoing, was named match referee. That game was delayed by an hour before going ahead.
The Asian Cricket Council has not yet confirmed the match officials for Sunday’s blockbuster, but Pycroft is tipped to be in charge again. His possible involvement may have influenced Pakistan’s latest move.
While Pakistan’s media briefing is off, their training session at the ICC Academy in Dubai will go ahead as planned. India, who were originally set to rest, have also scheduled an optional evening practice at the same venue before the big clash.
