The Asia Cup 2025 clash between Pakistan and the UAE in Dubai witnessed a bizarre moment when on-field umpire Ruchira Palliyaguruge had to walk off after being struck on the head by a wayward throw.
The incident happened in the second innings on the fifth ball of an over when Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris’ throw accidentally hit Palliyaguruge on the side of his head.
Physios rushed in to check for a possible concussion as the umpire held his head in pain. Bowler Saim Ayub also checked on him, but doctors soon deemed the veteran official unfit to continue.
As for the game itself, Pakistan overcame their own shaky batting to bowl out UAE for 105, sealing a 41-run win and booking their place in the Super Four.
