This will be the team’s second assignment in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle after their gritty campaign against Australia earlier this year.

The biggest headline from the announcement was the inclusion of left-arm spinner Khary Pierre, who received his maiden Test call-up. The 33-year-old has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket with 111 wickets in 35 matches at an impressive average of 22.81.

Captain Roston Chase will continue to lead the side, with key recalls in the batting department. Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Alick Athanaze return after missing the Australia series, joining John Campbell, Shai Hope, Brandon King, and experienced batter Justin Greaves.

The bowling attack will rely on pace spearheads Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph, supported by Jayden Seales and Anderson Phillip.

Wicketkeeper-batter Tevin Imlach keeps his place as the first-choice option behind the stumps. Head coach Daren Sammy said the squad was chosen with India’s conditions in mind.

“Playing in the subcontinent always presents a challenge and we have selected a team to be competitive in these conditions. This will be our second series together as a Test team, but we have already shown what we are capable of once we are committed to our brand and plans,” Sammy remarked.
