Asia Cup 2025: Who Won Yesterday’s India vs UAE Match?
India crushed UAE by 9 wickets with 93 balls left, registering their biggest-ever T20I win to start Asia Cup 2025.
India stormed into the Asia Cup 2025 with a record-breaking victory, hammering UAE by 9 wickets with 93 balls to spare. This is now India’s biggest-ever win in T20 international history.
After winning the toss, India opted to bowl first. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah set the tone with the new ball, and UAE never recovered. Only Alishan Sharafu (22) and Muhammad Waseem (19) managed to reach double digits. The rest of the batting collapsed as UAE folded for just 57 in 13.1 overs.
Kuldeep Yadav spun a web with figures of 4 for 7 in just 2.1 overs, while Shivam Dube enjoyed his career-best spell in T20Is, grabbing 3 for 4 in 2 overs. Varun Chakaravarthy also chipped in with 1 for 4. Together, India’s bowlers completely dismantled the UAE line-up.
In reply, openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, both from Punjab, came out firing. Sharma smashed a six off the very first ball and raced to 30 from 16 before falling to Junaid Siddique.
Gill then took over with elegant strokes, striking two boundaries and a six, while skipper Suryakumar Yadav wasted no time, hitting a six off his first ball. Gill sealed the win with a boundary in the fifth over, finishing the game inside 4.3 overs.
With 93 balls left, this win eclipsed India’s previous record in Asia Cup T20s, when they beat UAE in Mirpur in 2016 with 59 balls remaining.
It also went past Afghanistan’s 59-ball win over Sri Lanka in Dubai in 2022. India now turn their focus to the big clash against Pakistan on Sunday, while UAE will look to bounce back against Oman on Monday.
