Sanju Samson Donates His Full Match Salary to Coaches and Teammates

Sanju Samson, the Indian wicketkeeper batter, has once again won hearts off the field. After guiding Kochi Blue Tigers to the Kerala Cricket League title, he decided to donate his entire salary of ₹26.8 lakhs to his teammates and coaches.

Samson was the costliest player at the KCL auction, with Kochi Blue Tigers spending more than half of their purse of ₹50 lakhs to sign him. Instead of keeping the amount, he chose to give it back to the people who worked with him throughout the tournament.

Kochi Blue Tigers’ Title Run

Under the captaincy of Sanju’s elder brother, Saly Samson, Kochi Blue Tigers had a dominant season. They lost only two games and sealed the title with a huge 75-run win in the final.

Sanju himself was the biggest star of the league. In just five innings, he smashed 368 runs at a strike-rate of 186.80 and an average of 73.60.

His consistency stood out with four back-to-back half-centuries, including a brilliant century. His knocks turned games around and helped Kochi chase down tall targets with ease.

Even though he played only a handful of matches, Samson was the face of the league. By giving away his salary, he showed how much he values the growth of cricket in Kerala.

Sanju has often spoken about the KCL and its role in unearthing new players from the state. His gesture highlights the bond he shares with his team and his commitment to Kerala cricket.

The only Kerala player to represent India in the last decade, Samson now shifts focus to the Asia Cup 2025. After his blazing form in KCL, fans will be eager to see him carry that confidence into the international stage.
