Pakistan clinched the tri-series trophy with a dominant 75-run win over Afghanistan in the final at Sharjah. A disciplined bowling effort, led by Mohammad Nawaz’s five-wicket haul, sealed the victory after a modest batting display.
Opting to bat first, Pakistan managed 141 for 8 in 20 overs. Fakhar Zaman scored 27, skipper Salman Agha made 24, and Mohammad Nawaz chipped in with 25. Rashid Khan stood out for Afghanistan with 3 for 38, while Noor Ahmad impressed with 2 for 17.
In reply, Afghanistan’s chase fell apart inside 16 overs. Shaheen Afridi removed Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the first over before Nawaz ran through the middle order.
The left-arm spinner claimed 5 for 19, including a hat-trick, and dismissed skipper Rashid Khan to complete his haul. Abrar Ahmed and Sufiyan Muqeem added two wickets each as Afghanistan folded for just 66.
Rashid Khan top-scored with 17, but no other batter offered resistance. Pakistan’s win capped off a tri-series where defending targets proved decisive in every match.
