Dewald Brevis Breaks Silence on What It’s Really Like With MS Dhoni Amidst Hookah Controversy
Amid hookah controversy, Dewald Brevis praises MS Dhoni, calling him humble, approachable, and inspiring at CSK.
Amid all the noise surrounding MS Dhoni’s name in the resurfaced “hookah controversy,” South Africa’s Dewald Brevis has chosen to speak only about the CSK legend’s positive influence.
Brevis, who was roped in by Chennai Super Kings as an injury replacement in IPL 2025, said playing under Dhoni was nothing short of special. The 21-year-old recalled how approachable the former India captain was throughout the season.
“It was an amazing experience to play for CSK. MS is humble as a person and gives time to the players,” Brevis told AB de Villiers.
“His door is always open, and I often visited him. It was nice to talk about cricket and even hobbies. Everyone knows his achievements, but he is also inspiring off the field.”
While CSK endured a tough season, winning just four games, Brevis was one of the few bright sparks. In six matches, he scored 225 runs at an average of 37.50 and a strike rate of 180.
The young batter is also making waves internationally. He hammered an unbeaten 125 against Australia in T20Is and recently impressed in the ODI series against England.
For Brevis, however, the biggest takeaway from IPL 2025 remains his time with Dhoni. At a moment when the former India skipper is facing criticism from old teammates, the South African’s words stand out as a reminder of Dhoni’s stature inside the dressing room.
