“Dhoni Ate Gambhir, Sehwag and Irfan’s Careers”: Yograj Singh Targets Ex-India Captain
MS Dhoni faces criticism from Yograj Singh over ‘hookah controversy,’ accused of mistreating players and staying silent.
MS Dhoni, who has stayed away from cricket since IPL 2025, has unexpectedly found himself in the middle of a storm.
The controversy began when an old interview of Irfan Pathan resurfaced, where the all-rounder recalled being dropped in 2008 and hinted that Dhoni favored players who “set up hookahs for him.”
Pathan had said he was puzzled after reports claimed Dhoni wasn’t happy with his bowling during the Australia series.
“I thought I bowled well. I don’t have a habit of setting up hookah in someone’s room. My job was to perform on the field,” Pathan had remarked.
Dhoni has remained silent on the matter, but his quietness has drawn criticism from Yograj Singh, father of Yuvraj Singh.
Speaking to InsideSport, Yograj accused the former captain of mistreating players and avoiding accountability.
“It’s not only Irfan. Gautam Gambhir has spoken, Sehwag has spoken, Harbhajan Singh too. Dhoni doesn’t want to answer. One who doesn’t want to answer has a guilty conscience,” Yograj said.
He even alleged that Dhoni, Kapil Dev and Bishan Singh Bedi “treated players like s**t” and damaged careers.
