Pakistan started their T20 tri-series campaign on a high with a 39-run win over Afghanistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Batting first, Pakistan posted 182 for 7, led by captain Salman Ali Agha’s brilliant 53 off 36 balls. Sahibzada Farhan gave a flying start with 21 off just 10, while Mohammad Nawaz’s quickfire 21 from 11 and Faheem Ashraf’s 14 off 5 boosted the finish.

Afghanistan’s bowlers struggled for consistency, with Fareed Ahmad going for 47 runs in his four overs despite picking up two wickets.

In reply, Afghanistan folded for 143 in 19.5 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (38 off 27) and Rashid Khan (39 off 16) fought hard, but regular wickets derailed the chase.

Haris Rauf was the standout with 4 for 31, while Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz picked up two each.

With this win, Pakistan gained early momentum ahead of the Asia Cup, while Afghanistan will need to regroup quickly before facing hosts UAE.
