Just weeks before the high-voltage India vs Pakistan clash in Dubai on September 14, his old rival Manoj Tiwary has launched a scathing attack, branding him a “hypocrite.”

Tiwary Questions Gambhir’s Stand On Pakistan

Tiwary pulled out Gambhir’s past comments where he had opposed India playing cricket with Pakistan until cross-border terrorism ended. Gambhir had repeated the same stand earlier this year after the Pahalgam terror attack.

Yet, with India scheduled to play Pakistan, Tiwary questioned why Gambhir has changed his tune now that he is coach.

“I always felt that he’s someone who is a hypocrite,” Tiwary told CricTracker. “When he was not the coach, he said India and Pakistan should never play a match. Now he is coaching the team that is going to play Pakistan. Why can’t he resign and protest?”

The remarks have added extra spice to the build-up of the Asia Cup clash, a fixture already carrying enormous weight for players and fans alike.

Tiwary didn’t stop there. He also targeted Gambhir over the Asia Cup squad selection, where Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal were left out.

He recalled how Gambhir had once called Jaiswal the future of Indian T20 cricket and said the left-hander must never be sidelined. But when it came to Asia Cup, he dropped him.
