“Shreyas Iyer, Jaiswal Would Get ‘A’ Contracts in Pakistan” – Basit Ali Mocks PCB
Ex-Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali mocks PCB, says Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal would have got ‘A’ category contracts if they were in Pakistan.
Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has once again taken a dig at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the announcement of the new central contracts.
The PCB removed the top Category A bracket this year, demoting senior players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to Category B.
Speaking on a YouTube show with Kamran Akmal, Basit mocked the system, claiming that even Indian stars like Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who missed out on India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad, would have easily made the A category in Pakistan.
“Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj aur Mohammed Shami agar Pakistan mein hote na, yeh log A category mein hote,” Basit said. He further added that Iyer’s omission from the Asia Cup was “unfair” considering his recent form.
Iyer had an outstanding IPL 2025, scoring over 600 runs and leading Punjab Kings to their first final in 11 years. His consistent performances have even sparked speculation that he could replace Rohit Sharma as India’s next ODI captain after the Asia Cup.
