Ambani Effect: Oval Invincibles to Be Renamed MI London in The Hundred 2025
Oval Invincibles are set to be renamed MI London under new ownership ahead of The Hundred 2025, joining Mumbai Indians’ global cricket franchise network.
Oval Invincibles, the most successful team in The Hundred’s history, are set to be renamed MI London ahead of the tournament’s sixth edition next year, reported The Telegraph.
The move comes after Reliance-owned Mumbai Indians group acquired 49% stake in the franchise, valued at £123m.
The rebrand aligns Oval Invincibles with MI’s global network that already includes Mumbai Indians (IPL), MI New York (MLC), MI Cape Town (SA20), MI Emirates (ILT20), and Mumbai Indians Women (WPL).
While Surrey initially wanted the county’s name to feature in the new identity, reports suggest the franchise will go forward as MI London despite resistance.
The Hundred is undergoing major changes with its new ownership model, and two other teams will also be rebranded, Manchester Originals to Manchester Super Giants, and Northern Superchargers to Sunrisers Leeds.
