India Declines to Play Pakistan In WCL 2025 Semifinal – Report
India Champions are set to forfeit their WCL 2025 semifinal clash against Pakistan.
India Champions have decided not to take the field against Pakistan Champions in the semifinal of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, sources have confirmed. The decision echoes their earlier stance when they refused to play the group stage match against the same opposition.
India’s semifinal qualification was sealed after a thumping win over West Indies Champions, chasing down the target in just 13.2 overs.
But with Pakistan waiting in the knockouts, the Indian side has chosen to stand by its original protest, one that has continued to draw both support and controversy.
The group match between India and Pakistan was officially called off earlier in the tournament following a joint boycott by Indian players and a top sponsor, EaseMyTrip.
Former players like Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan had publicly declared they would not play against Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack in India months ago.
On Wednesday, EaseMyTrip reaffirmed its decision, pulling out of the semifinal and issuing a strong statement. “Terror and cricket cannot go hand in hand… We cannot support any event that attempts to normalise relations with a country that promotes terrorism,” co-founder Nishant Pitti said.
India Champions had a mixed campaign, losing to South Africa, Australia, and England in the league stage. Their only point before the West Indies match came from the abandoned clash with Pakistan.
