ACC Announced Asia Cup 2025 Schedule: India vs Pakistan Set for September 14 Clash in UAE
India to face Pakistan on Sept 14 in Asia Cup 2025 group stage; three India-Pakistan clashes possible in UAE T20 tournament
The 2025 Men’s Asia Cup will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28, with the much-awaited India vs Pakistan group-stage clash scheduled for September 14.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi officially announced the schedule, confirming that both India and Pakistan will participate despite ongoing political tensions.
India, Pakistan in Group A
India and Pakistan have been drawn together in Group A, along with UAE and Oman. Group B features Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.
The top two teams from each group will move to the Super 4 stage, where another India-Pakistan clash is expected on September 21. If both teams reach the final, fans could witness a third meeting on September 28 something that has never happened before in Asia Cup history.
No Bilateral Ties, But Neutral Venue Agreement Holds
Though bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan remains off the table, both boards have agreed to play neutral-venue matches through 2027. This follows a broader understanding after political tensions and the military skirmish in May.
India recently skipped their match against Pakistan in the World Champions League (WCL) 2025, with Indian legends opting out of the fixture. As a result, Pakistan Champions were awarded one point.
However, India’s Sports Minister later confirmed that India will continue to face Pakistan in global and multi-nation tournaments, ensuring marquee contests like those in the Asia Cup still take place.
India come into the tournament as defending champions, having won the 2023 edition. This will also be the third T20I-format Asia Cup, following the 2016 and 2022 editions.
