IND vs ENG: Nitish Kumar Reddy Injured and Out of England Test Series
Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of England Test series with knee injury, adding to India's growing list of absentees.
India have been dealt a big blow ahead of the fourth Test. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining matches against England. The youngster has suffered a knee injury and will take no further part in the series.
Another Injury Setback for India
Nitish picked up the injury during a gym session on Sunday. Scans later confirmed ligament damage, according to reports. This means he will miss the last two Tests of the five-match series.
It’s a tough blow for India. Nitish was one of the brightest positives in the second and third Tests. His bowling gave India control, and his lower-order runs added depth. He was fitting in well under Shubman Gill’s captaincy and Gautam Gambhir’s guidance.
But now, India will have to cope without him. And the timing couldn’t be worse.
Indian Team Struggles With Injuries
Nitish joins a growing list of Indian players who are already out of the series. Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh had been ruled out earlier. Youngster Anshul Kamboj was brought in as his replacement.
To make things worse, Akash Deep who had impressed at Edgbaston looked in discomfort during the Lord’s Test. His availability for the Manchester match is now uncertain.
With back-to-back injuries in the pace department, India’s bench strength is being tested. The team has been forced to make frequent changes, and it’s disrupting plans at a key stage of the series.
Big Hole to Fill
In English conditions, a seam-bowling all-rounder is rare and very valuable. Nitish had balanced the XI well. Without him, India might have to either go in with a longer tail or play an extra batter.
It’s a tricky situation for the team management. The pressure is now on the remaining bowlers to deliver. With the series still open, India will need to dig deep.
